Across 2 days, hear from experienced tutors and gain hands-on practical experience  

  • Gain understanding of ultrasound as a diagnostic tool 
  • Hear tips to optimise examination 
  • Learn about ultrasound of the liver and biliary tract, spleen and GIT, kidneys, adrenal glands, genitourinary and FNA, pancreas and lymph nodes 
  • Gain practical experience of side full scans (lateral), left and right

Tutors: 

Sarah Davies BVSc MS DipACVR 

Sarah is a diagnostic imaging specialist with ACVR (American College of Veterinary 
Radiology) training and completed a residency training program at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary medicine. 
She completed rotating internships at the Adelaide Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre and The Ohio State Veterinary Teaching Hospital. 
Sarah achieved ACVR board certification by examination in 2009 and since then has worked primarily in private practice in Sydney.  

She has co-authored chapters in the BSAVA handbook of Canine and Feline Musculoskeletal Imaging and Thrall’s Textbook of Veterinary Diagnostic Radiology. 

Sarah serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Radiology and Ultrasound and the Australian Veterinary Journal. She is currently serving on the committee of the Australian Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and has been actively involved in supporting AAVDI for many years.  

Alex Heggie BVSc MANZCVS (Small Animal Radiology)  

Alex started her veterinary journey working in general practice and, after 4 years, decided to pursue her interest in diagnostic imaging and internal medicine working as a multidisciplinary intern at a specialist referral hospital in Sydney. 

In 2022, Alex completed a diagnostic imaging internship at this same hospital. During this time, Alex accomplished her memberships in small animal radiology with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. 

Alex now works providing mobile ultrasound services to clinics as well as working part time in general practice. Alex’s passion for diagnostic imaging continues to grow and she loves teaching other veterinarians the wonders of ultrasound.
